The event will be taped on Saturday, October 17th this year at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and will air on Spike TV ten days later on Tuesday, October 27th (check for local tim
Hancock is an interesting film. It starts out strong, both in story and comedy but 1/3 of the way through heads in a completely different direction. It certainly has flaws (which some people can't get past) but I found it extremely entertain
Last year could have been worse - 5 of our 10 most anticipated movies of 2009 turned out to live up to our expectations (including Watchmen, Up, and Star Trek ), while the other five ranged from mediocre ( Public Enemies ) to downright disappointing ( Terminator Salvation, Wolverine, Transformers 2 ). Of course "most anticipated" does not necessarily mean "movies we think are going to be awesome" - it's "movies we hope are going to be aweso
One big suprise in the above list is Pixar's Wall-E : I'm really shocked that the R-rating-pushing, PG-13 and mediocre (according to most critics) Hancock actually beat the family friendly Pixar film. Also surprising is that Kung Fu Panda made almost as much as the Wall-E . It looks like despite the universally rave reviews for Wall-E , that the overly message-heavy plot of the movie wasn't as much of a winner with families as other of their films like The Incredibles and Finding Nemo . Heck, even Cars (considered by many to be Pixar's weakest film) made more money than Wall-E at the box off
M. Night Shyamalan has been a victim of his own success (and his ego) with each of his films getting pretty much worse than the one that came before. However here he will be tackling something completely different from anything he has ever done before, and based on the one trailer we've seen so far it looks like it may turn out to be impressive. We'll
While some were disappointed (myself included) that director Ridley Scott decided to drop a couple of unique concepts for the story from the final product (Russell Crowe playing both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham, the sheriff as the good guy and Robin as the villain), this still looks like a great, reality-based update of the st
Movies worth noting that are missing from that top 10 list include The Happening (huge stinker for Shyamalan), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (couldn't bring myself to watch it), 10,000 B.C. (do I even need to comment on this one?), Speed Racer (LSD trip for kids), and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (too niche, I suppo
However the end result was pretty damned entertaining (the pre-screen audience applauded when it was over), and stick around for a couple of minutes once the credits start rolling to see a really great bonus scene (no need to hang around to the end of the credits, though). Just do me a favor and get a babysitter: Hancock is not a "fun" movie for k
What knocked the score down? The villain of the film comes out of nowhere, barely gets any screen time and just doesn't even seem like they're a part of the movie - so it was kind of non-sequiter. I won't get into spoilers, but considering what the villain knows about Hancock, how this person figured they'd be able to actually kill him is beyond
With the types of movies that del Toro makes, in particular Blade II and the two Hellboy movies, you'd think that he'd be very much in favor of the world of video games. And yet that's not entirely the c
"People think because you love genre [cinema] you don't know anything else. It's condescending. If the emotion is provoked and the goals are achieved, what does it matter? Is Thomas Pynchon a more worthy read than Stephen King? It depends on the afterno
Below is the list of a selection of the 32 categories from this year's Scream nominations. For those of you (all of you?) who want to have YOUR say on which film should win, you're in luck! Public voting for the awards has opened already and will run right up to October 17th. But before you head off to vote, here are some of the nomin
Lost should win Best TV Show (I love Dexter , but it's no Lost ); Best Horror Movie should go to Let The Right One In (I would say Drag Me To Hell , but since that's a comedy too, Let The Right One takes it for me); Best Actor in a Fantasy Movie Or TV Show should go to Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ; and Best Comic Book superhero movie Games missions|Https://superheromoviespot.com/ should (EASILY) go to Watchm
I've really been dreading writing this review because frankly, I'm still not sure how I feel about Zack Snyder's big screen adaptation of the revered graphic novel (yes, I'm calling it a graphic novel), Watchm
"With Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone, which is a less well-known film, I was trying the same thing, in a way. And with my first feature, the vampire fable Cronos, too. I tried to take genre premises and explore them obliquely, where the fantastic is either tangential or illuminates reality in a different w
