Today marks the day when the nominations for the 36th Annual Saturn Awards are given out. In case you're not familiar with them, they are given out by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films (they also include TV shows and stage productions) so as a reader of Screen Rant I believe they're right up your alley
I'm a little (no, A LOT) suspect of The Book of Eli , Transformers 2 and Wolverine getting nominated for Best Fantasy Film (and District 9 didn't?!) and New Moon and The Box getting nominated in the Horror category (were either of those even horror movie
Considering many of you may be in the dark about this wonderful gem hidden in the depths (just change the audio track) of your DVD or Blu-ray, I'm here to enlighten you as you continue on your path of movie-watching greatness. So, let's take a look at my ten favorite commentary tracks that I think you have to h
Here's just some of my quick thoughts on who and what's been nominated: I'm glad to see so many nominations for my favorite show Lost , racking up nine in total (nice to see Josh Holloway finally get recognition for his acting). I'm delighted to see Sam Rockwell get recognition for his fantastic performance in Moon (I was really annoyed that he didn't get nominated for an Osc
To borrow a question from the interviewer: Is this another Barrack Obama-type case where del Toro is trying to do everything at once? I mean, I know he's passionate about making movies, and he certainly has the expertise and skill to make them all quality stuff, but the sheer amount of projects he has lined up is bound to take its toll on anybo
"People think because you love genre [cinema] you don't know anything else. It's condescending. If the emotion is provoked and the goals are achieved, what does it matter? Is Thomas Pynchon a more worthy read than Stephen King? It depends on the afterno
Well, that's it. Hopefully one of these will get you to the store and buying a new DVD or maybe searching through some you already own. Have you got any favorite DVD commentaries? Disagree with the list above? Let us know in the comments section be
On the DVD, viewers are granted the second best in-character commentary ever made. Only this time, everybody is in-character. On one hand, that is fantastic and endlessly hilarious. I actually think it's better than the superhero movie games Updates|https://superheromoviespot.com/ itself most of the time. But it also provides absolutely no information of the filmmaking process or anything close to it. It is quite simply the characters in the mockumentary watching the mockument
What's nice is the difference between both commentary tracks. While the philosophers gush over every aspect of the trilogy, even when you know they should back off, the critics have a much more visceral eye for content. I'm not amongst those who think Reloaded and Revolutions are wasted films. In fact, I like them, just not as much as the first, which is tough to b
The nominees have been announced for the fourth annual Scream Awards, held every year by Spike TV . The decisively more "fan-friendly" award ceremony (compared to the Oscars) honors films from the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic-book genres of movies, TV shows and comic books. The awards are described as, "the first and only global event of its kind," to honor those gen
Keeping in line with all of the rest of the major awards, films like Avatar , The Hurt Locker and Inglourious Basterds have snagged a high amount of noms, with a couple of fan-favorites like District 9 and Star Trek also being inclu
But enough from me, what and who will YOU vote for? As stated, you can cast your votes over at Spike.com , and you can see if the winners match your picks when the Scream Awards 2009 air on October 27th this year on Spike
The guys over at Collider were attending a press junket for Watchmen recently and made the savvy move of asking director Zack Snyder some pointed questions about what fans can expect to see from the Watchmen DVD/Blu-ray when it is released this summer - probably some time in early Aug
Similar to the Scream Awards , I really dig the Saturn Awards because of the types of films they celebrate. Often with awards like the Oscars and the Golden Globes, purely fun films that have every bit of merit as the serious ones get left
The awards will be given out on June 24th, so we have over four months to speculate and choose the nominees we'd give the award to. The categories range from the usual Best Film (separated into Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction etc) to Best DVD release and Best DVD Special Edit
Debbie Snyder: They’re all done because we had to finish them all at the same time. We have the 3 hour director’s cut which will be released at the first release of the DVD…which will probably be around Comic-Con of this y
Will do, Zack. Thanks. Just after he finishes, the minimized box with the actual movie enlarges to full screen. From time to time, Snyder returns with more information, but a majority of the features embed themselves in the film. Snyder is ridiculously informative and opens up the entire production to the fans, creating yet another way to experience Watchmen. We warned you of this awesomeness just over a year ago, so don't act so surpri
