Microsoft 365 provides essential productivity services that allow users to collaborate across devices and locations. This includes enabling the synchronization of email, calendar appointments, contacts, tasks, and notes seamlessly between different platforms. However, sometimes sync issues can occur, which lead to changes not syncing properly or data not staying up to date between connected services and apps. In this guide, we will provide you with comprehensive troubleshooting instructions to identify and resolve the most common Microsoft 365 synchronization problems that may arise.

Method 14: Repair/Reinstall Microsoft Office

I’ve tried the Microsoft office uninstall tool provided by Microsoft (which deletes more items then just control panel uninstall). Now, restart Outlook and check if Outlook synchronization is working. I’m at wits end and Microsoft stopped helping me because they feel the problem is on our end. However, I cannot find any reason why his account would do this only on our domain nothing is blocking our connection to Office 365. However once I joined this computer back to the domain and let it sit for a few days it was also working fine.

I still have it turned on on my laptop and it has not shown any issues yet. However I do not use Outlook on it as much as I do on my desktop. You'll also receive a mail (to the alternate email and to your admin email) from Microsoft 365 that indicates your tenant has encountered directory synchronization errors. For details see Identify directory synchronization errors in Microsoft 365.

Method 6: Reduce Outlook Data File (OST) Size

However, with one particular client no matter what changes are made these sync issue still occur. Here is the strange part I tried to remove the computer from the domain and have Outlook run from a local account for a few days. I’ve been in contact with Microsoft they had me migrate his accountdata to another server this did not fix it.

I got an error message that my company has exceeded the number of objects that can be synchronized

I get a "We're having trouble syncing. Click "Sign in again" to fix this issue" error at the top of window. I then check out her profile in exchange admin console and see that none of the changes I made have reflected there, except for her new UPN... We have a Hybrid environment with a lot of our accounts being created on premise in Active Directory and syncing to O365 and exchange. If not, you can completely uninstall Microsoft Office and then reinstall it. I’ve tried to set cache mode from 1 year all the way down to a few days.

To resolve this, you can reduce the Outlook data file (OST) size.If I check the sync log I see a lot of sync errors for Inbox, sent items and a few other folders.I’m at wits end and Microsoft stopped helping me because they feel the problem is on our end.I then check out her profile in exchange admin console and see that none of the changes I made have reflected there, except for her new UPN...I’ve been in contact with Microsoft they had me migrate his accountdata to another server this did not fix it.Below are the steps I’ve taken to try to resolve this issue.

Method 11: Clear Outlook Cache

The client has a computer off the domain at home that his work email is tied to and he has never had any of these issues in Cache mode with that device. I’ve unchecked download shared folders when setting up a new Outlook profile. I'm running into an issue with syncing my MS account across my MS 365 Office apps. I'm signed in on my windows account and my one drive seems to be working but when I open word, excel, onenote, etc.

Once the client started using Outlook again after some time has passed the issue had come back. I ran the PSTscan tool to check for anomalies on the OST file (which it found and repaired but the issue still occurs). Below Office 365 support guide are the steps I’ve taken to try to resolve this issue.
